I remember when she and Christo spoke in Colorado Springs in support of the Arkansas River project. They were a little kooky. She stopped a photographer from taking a picture of just Christo while she was i nthe middle of talking, saying, “We are Christo and Jeanne-Claude. We do not have our pictures taken separately if you please.”
My heart kind of broke reading this though, becuase she also said (she was the more talkative of the two) that from the first time they had met in Paris in their early 20s, when they discovered they had the same birthday, she and Christo had never been apart for more than a day. Wonderfully romantic.
Also, if you can get it to load, Craig Richardson of Springs Culture Cast interviewed the two [very rehearsed and serious] artists. At the end he struggles to make an awesomely pedestrian joke and actually gets the two of them to break character. |Try Here.|
